Kids from Wisconsin with RJ Heim

Fans of Marcy and the Highlights will remember RJ..age 7.. performing Tuttie Fruitte with Mom and Dad, singer, Marcy Heim and bass/singer Ken Heim.  RJ, a 2012 graduate from Oregon High School is the first member of the popular Wisconsin touring troupe, The Kids from Wisconsin, from Oregon in over 20 years. He was the lead, Frank, in the Oregon Fall Musical, “Annie Get Your Gun.”  The Overture Center annually reviews area shows and selects individual performers and shows for the prestigious Tommy Awards – the Tom Wopat Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater.  RJ, Samantha Elmer,  Alice Gehrke  and Belle Stein received Tommy Awards for their performances.  AND, the show received Outstanding Musical!   RJ and our OHS performers opened to a SOLD OUT (2,500 seats)  Overture Center Tommy Awards Show on June 3rd.

At Oregon High School, the fall musical, directed my Michael Ducett and produced by Jennifer Yancey provides the only opportunity for students to experience the singing and dancing.  The school does not have a show choir.  Local sponsors help provide resources to bring in dance instructors and the community pitches in with costume and set construction help.

To celebrate the Tommy Award and an Oregon kid in KIDS, the Oregon Choral Boosters are bringing the KIDS to Oregon High School on Monday, August 20th for one show only!  Tickets are available  at www.kidsfromwisconsin.net.  All proceeds from the show will go to support the upcoming Oregon High School fall musical, “Fiddler on the Roof.”

Honoring our Veterans! 4th of July 2012

THANK YOU to all who have SERVED!!

The record temperatures could not keep the crowd away at the 4th of July Celebration in Deforest.   The beer tent wooden dance floor was home to free-style, swing, two-stepping, line dancing, waltzing and more during Marcy and the Highlight’s show.  But by far the “highlight” was our opportunity to honor and introduce all those who have served our country.  In a powerful tribute, the audience provided genuine and enthusiastic applause and shouts of support.  God Bless the USA!

Enjoying a HOT 4th in the Deforest Beer Tent

Good Lookin’ Devil Benefit – THANK YOU!

Good Lookin’ Devil Benefit

THANK YOU….what an amazing day…over 300 folks dancing away in honor and memory of Jim Ceithamer.  With my deepest thanks and gratitude……to each and everyone of you who made this day a success and contributed to the financial and emotional support for Becci and her family.  We saw folks we haven’t seem in years who traveled to be with us.    It was a tremendous outpouring of love  – far beyond our wildest hopes for the day.

My thanks to the musicians, dance instructors and DJ Brent who made the day a celebration of Jim’s love for dancing, the Sunday Dance and his dancers.  Our bands – Marcy and the Highlights, Ken Wheaton trio, Old School and Universal Sound – our special guests – Bonnie and Dave – Side by Side, Kristy Larson and Mark Roeder – and a spectacular performance by Anthony Ceithamer, Jim’s grandson and Jacquelyn Ceithamer, Jim’s daughter.  Our dance instructors, Michael Glowacki, Tom Choudoir and Linda and Peter Goethche (Fred Astaire Dance) were WONDERFUL and managed the packed room.   A big thank you to Alice and the staff at Turner Hall – it was just perfect.  And to the over 100 folks who contributed drawing prizes.

Most of all though….the feeling at this event just cannot be explained – it was just pure joy, love and fun.  In all my years of playing at benefits, this was just an incredible experience.  Thank you, everyone.  Marcy

The Fitchburg Concert Totally Fun!

The morning downpour and high temps could not keep the Fitchburg crowd away from a fun time at McKee Farms Park, July 11 with Marcy and the Highlights.  Special guest, Ginny O’Brien, delighted the crowd with “Old Man Time” “Bill Bailey” and more!  Marcy and Ginny will be performing a special concert this fall to benefit the Senior Center Addition.  Stay tuned!

Over 40 Veterans honored at the 4th of July Celebration in DeForest

It’s time for Highlights Musical Fireworks – NOTE – A NEW TIME THIS YEAR!  12:30 – 4:30 PM in the beer tent.  AND…join us for a special tribute to all Veterans and Active Members of the Armed Forces at 2:30 pm.  Be there to applaud those who keep our country safe and preserve the freedoms we enjoy in this great country.  Are you a vet or currently serving??  Join us so that we may honor you!
