You hear them once, your hooked.  The great sounds of the all-male a Capella group, the UW MadHatters have been heard from the Whitehouse (2 years in a row and invited back!) to yes, the Heim pool.

RJ Heim was selected for this premiere performing group last year as a UW Freshman, and we had the honor of hosting the first rehearsal for the group this year.  Great guys, great music!  Be sure to catch a show – either in the Overture Center (sold out last year) or around town.

Once you’ve heard them, you’re hooked!  The UW MadHatters, the all male UW Madison a Capella group, has performed from the Whitehouse, (and President Obama has already issued a return invite! ) to the frat house…..and lots of stops in between.

To kick off the first back-to-school rehearsal, the Hatters hit the Heim pool.  Great guys, great music.  (not always so great filming…. ):

Highlights fans will recognize UW MadHatter member RJ Heim.  Catch the show from the Overture Center (sold out last year) to the Greek houses and everywhere in between.  An amazing bunch of talented, bright and just plain all around great guys!  An honor to have them visit.  Hope we can make it a tradition!

Well….let’s face it, dancers.  Turner Hall is a gym.  Now you can’t beat that great wooden court as a dance floor, and for several years now, we’ve called it home to the Sunday Dance Party.  On behalf of  Marcy & The Highlights we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to the folks at Turner Hall.  Lots of great memories there with lots of great folks.

But…alas, there are now so many volleyball players seeking a place to hit the ball over the net, that Sunday night leagues are trumping our dances.  And…coming to our rescue is the VFW, 301 Cottage Grove Road…again.  So, dial up your GPS now and plan to join us tomorrow night, August 18th for the Sunday Dance at the VFW!

Looking back, I’ve shared over 30 years with the Sunday Dance – even running it for a couple of years when Jim and Becci took some time off.  When we ran the dance we settled at the VFW and it was a good partnership until the VFW members felt they needed the space for member events.  They have been good to us, and we thank them.  And while it won’t be our permanent home, I suspect we’ll be there from time to time.  How nice.

But most of all….thanks to you all who enjoy the art of dance, want a good space to dance in, value dancing to live music and appreciate the company of others who share the joy of this experience.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night at the VFW and where ever the dance settles for our next chapter.

Marcy and the Highlights

The Highlights are Waterproof!

Too funny.  Entertaining for a private party this July, the “perfect forecast” tuned into some serious sprinkles less than an hour into our show.  So Marcy recruited some firemen in attendance to “borrow” the canopy from the beer kegs and move it over the band!  

The Show Must Go On…At least until our equipment started getting too soggy and we were risking electrocuting Randy, David and Ken!  Don’t try this at home! 

A big THANK YOU to Gary and his guests for having enough team drinks with us to not let a little rain spoil our fun!!  We’ll see you all again next year!!!         

THANKS TO Alan Maslowski for a terrific job drumming with the Highlights at the June Sunday dance! Looking forward to having a chance to play with Alan again!  Great beats!
