Thank you to everyone who joined us to say a fond farewell to Orton AND wish him Happy Birthday!  A great night reminding us all that dancing is more than a good  way to enjoy music, learn a new skill and exercise – it is a wonderful way to connect with others in a deep and meaningful way.  Our best wishes to Orton!

Some of our Highlights fans who area also part of Madison’s amazing Bethel Lutheran Church know that last year we had snow! Well ok, maybe not snow.

This year —- a fabulous day filled with wonderful sharing and celebrating!  (and one great chicken dinner, too!)  A big thank you and happy Birthday to Betty Nicka!

Make plans now to join us at the Sunday Dance Party on May 4th for a fond farewell to Orton who is moving to Colorado.  We will miss him!  

Mardi Gras is French for ” FAT TUESDAY”  – that is, the final day before the we are penitent in Lent that begins on Ash Wednesday.  While Mardi Gras has no official status in the Catholic Church, it is a custom in many Catholic countries to mark the day with parties and feasting, in particular eating those foods from which one will NOT EAT during Lent.

I’ve been in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras a few times – CRAZY.  The best parts?  MUSIC AND CONTINUED DANCING!!!  And party colors….gold, purple and green.  And loads and loads of feathers and beads and lavish costumes.

So think gaudy and festive and sexy and head to the SUNDAY DANCE THIS SUNDAY NIGHT TO boogie down!

The VFW # 1318 is located at 133 East Lakeside Street, just off John Nolan Drive. They have a big parking lot and a full bar will be available just across the hall from the banquet room.  A very central and easily accessed location! For the past 3 years, Marcy has joined the team at Madison Magazine heading around town to surprise the winners of the Best of Madison.  This year Marcy is here with Grace, Rachel Tatge, Jim Abraham and Emily Lawless from Madison Magazine.  We began the day celebrating with Channel 3 Rob Starbuck, Charlotte Deleste and Haddie McLean – the Silver winners for Best Morning TV, then on to NBC 15 to sing to the Gold Best Morning Team – Christine Bellport and Charlie Shortino.  Then to Q106 to congratulate Jackson as the Gold winner for Radio personality.  Then to Jonathon and Kitty at 105.5, Gold winners again of the Morning Radio team.

Well, we FINALLY actually got to play a Sunday Dance in this unending winter!  The 5100 Club was packed and we had a great dance lesson with Becci followed by a great time together.  See you on March 2nd.  We’ll let you know where when we do!  Hugs!

It was a GREAT time at the Verona Senior Center!  Thanks to all for sharing the love.  And thanks to the 90-104 year-olds that reminded us all to live life to the fullest – keep dancing and living with joy!  Special thanks to Shelley Glodowski and Alan Maslowski for joining us!  A great day made even better by the tremendous dancing of the Highlight’s dancers – Tom Guppy, Jane Blazier, and Deb and Mike Moe.  A wonderful time!  Nice to be back!  BIG KISS! Can’t wait to watch former Badger Russell Wilson in the BIG GAME this weekend!  There is a great deal we can learn from him.  In 2012, after a disappointing Rose Bowl loss  Russell Wilson said, “To lose the way we did is only going to make me stronger in the future and help me figure out something else down the road. Maybe win the Super Bowl.”

So here we are……we can watch him with the Seahawks this weekend… in the Super Bowl. I’ll be cheering him on!
