It’s been a wild ride with LIVE BAND KARAOKE and Team Drinks! 

Remember the good ole fashioned country jam session?  Now YOU can be the STAR at the Thirsty Goat!

Singers and pickers would get up, and with the help of the band, perform a song. It was great fun and a chance for some really talented folks to share their talent.  Some not-so-talented folks also got a chance, for 3 minutes or so, to experience singing with the band.

We’re bringing LIVE BAND KARAOKE to the Thirsty Goat EVERY SUNDAY all summer!

Here’s how it works.

Come in on a Sunday and look over our list of tunes.  Pick one or more and the band will help you find your key.  Then, get into the Que and sing away!  We’ll only feature a limited number of guests each set – probably no more than 10 each Sunday.  If you want to get up quicker – that’s easy. Just bring a fan club!  The more in your group, the quicker you sing.  AND your guests get a ticket for a drink deal SO they win too!

If you don’t find a song you like on the list, no problem!  Just let the band know…and come back NEXT Sunday – we’ll be set with YOUR SONG!  Again….the order depends on your fan club so be sure to tell your friends to come with you!  We want you to have your friends along to cheer you on!

Thank you to everyone (over 200 strong) who joined us at the Phil Gokey Tribute Dance Party and made it such a meaningful and memorable day! The Highlights were honored to be asked to help celebrate the life of Phil Gokey. He was a dear friend of our band and family.

Who? People who knew Phil. Phil passed November 22, 2017, but his spirit and joy lives on in the lives of the many people he touched.

Happy, Happy Holidays!

Just following Thanksgiving, I received a very kind email that included this quote…“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”

I hope you had a very Happy Thanksgiving and that indeed you can walk through every day with gratitude for ALL that is in your life – the good and the stuff you are working on.

One thing I am so very grateful for is the chance to have called Phil Gokey a special friend. He and Janet have been adding to the fun we have in playing music for you for years and years. We lost Phil to a brief experience with cancer and now we have the opportunity to celebrate the gift he was to us.

His family is planning a modest memorial service Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 am at LakeEdge Lutheran Church in Monona. Visitation begins at 9:30 am, lunch follows.

Janet Hagen and Becci Ceithamer are planning a dance on Saturday, January 6th at the VFW on Cottage Grove Road – afternoon – sometime 2 ish and the Highlights are honored to be ask to play music along with others who Phil enjoyed. More to come – just hold the time and look on my website and the Sunday Dance for updates.  It will be a time to reflect on a man who had figured out how to live everyday as his ideal day and with love.

 

An Invite from the Sun Prairie Dance Club
Saturday, December 9th at the Elks Club

The Sun Prairie Dance Club will be hosting a holiday dinner dance with MARCY AND THE HIGHLIGHTS providing the music at the Elks Club on Saturday, December 9th. They have extended a welcome to those who would perhaps be interested in membership to come and experience a dinner dance.  Guest price is $85 per couple or $42.50 for a single guest and includes all gratuity and sales taxes.
